to make my eldest daughter a 'big girl' quilt. Here it is laid out on my living room floor:
And a weirder perspective on it (I stood on the other side and rotated the photo!):
It does make the butterflies look like they're flying over the flowers though! I made the appliqué flower blocks and 6 of the butterfly blocks, the rest were made by my wonderful Bee A Brit Stingy mates. The little one had a long nap today so I actually managed to cut some solids to use for the sides of the quilt. It all needs to be sewn together and then hand quilted can begin (urm after I've hand quilted a couple of other quilts!!). It's her fifth birthday in November, there's a slim chance I can get it done by then right?!
I also asked my Simply Solids Bee to make me blocks I could use in a quilt for a local children's charity:
This doesn't literally have to be something made for charity, although charity makes are welcome, it could be any interpretation of the theme so be sure to join us and link your finished project (or quilt top) for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop!
I love the larger butterfly blocks - they look like a lot of work!
