See ya February
I loved my sewing this past month. I did a tutorial for a super easy QAYG border, worked on my appliqué, made butterfly blocks and rose stars and it is possible I may have inadvertently created a new quilt block when sewing a butterfly block (this is the second one I made on purpose!):

I also got some lovelies finished. The embroidered alphabet quilt was given to one of my best friends new baby boy and the feather quilt is keeping us warm at night on our bed. The fabric basket is my sewing bin and the reward chart was a commission.
Hopefully next month will be just as productive, I should have more finishes and I am about to start a couple of fun projects that I'm really excited about... including some embroidery that I might need a couple of you to help me with so stay tuned stitchers! There's a lot of slow projects and I am spending more time thinking about lay outs and how I want the finished quilt to look. I am hoping this means that I will produce things I'm really satisfied with and, although I do think great things can come of just doing something and not over thinking it, it seems to be a reflection of my growth and how much I'm learning. Listening to my instincts and knowing when something isn't right, which often leads to discovering what is right.
Counting the days... the end of October
Welcome November!! This means I have just over two months of pregnancy left!! Woo Hoo!!!!
(too many exclamation points I know but man will I be glad to meet this baby!)
I was pleased with what my crazy hormones let me achieve this month. It was exciting to be part of Donktober at Missy Mac Creations and make some fun Donkey themed projects, I also got two quilts and a tree skirt finished as well as other little makes. I have tons left I want to do before the baby arrives but I'm just sewing for pure pleasure and making whatever takes my fancy, it feels awesome!

I've also continued making the rose star blocks. I finished another last night, so this brings the total so far up to 24:
After an email from my darling Nicky, realising we were making the same size blocks, we agreed to have a little swap. I got mine done quick because if I don't do something ASAP I totally forget. Here's the one I sent her and I'm happy to say she likes it! I was worried because hers are so much more sophisticated and coordinated than mine and I can't seem to stop myself from being eclectic, nonetheless I tried to make this a bit more thought out and the colours look prettier together in real life I think:
I also made a pincushion for the incredible Emily. We had a little swap as part of Bee a Brit Stingy, which doesn't officially start until January.
I checked out Emily's flickr favourites and pretty much ignored all of it (except the tattoo style lettering! - I had the pattern from Sublime Stitching) and came up with this:
Selfishly I really wanted to make the paper pieced Lil' Matryoshka by Sonja Callaghan from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks vol.5. The actual quilt block has 3 dolls but that would have been a cushion not a pin cushion! So I made the little one and added some embroidery. I am pleased that she likes it! I knew she'd love the glittery text fabric on the back though :)
I also received my gorgeous pincushion from the talented Janet. Actually I got two!! One is lovely and bright, made from the softest fabric and the other has been beautifully embroidered. Thank you so much Janet, they are both fabulous. The macaroon was quickly devoured by my Scottish husband when I wasn't looking but it was a great reminder of home and childhood for him so I couldn't be too mad!
Such fantastic stitching!! This is a really handy size too and I've been carrying it around while I EPP.
I had another couple of nice Bee treats in the post, this time as part of Scrappy? Sew Bee It! It's my turn as queen bee and I requested AMH feathers. Here's the lovely rainbow one from Annika and a great siggy block too! Thank you Annika!

I can't believe how many projects I'm working on and I can't stop myself from starting new things. I have a problem. Quilting addiction maybe?? Or possibly because we have cots, prams etc this is my way of nesting?! I think I'm going with my hormones anyway because I'm clearly crazy!!

- I made more feather blocks using the Anna Maria Horner pattern, it's my month for the Scrappy? Sew Bee It, so I hope they all like making a feather! A couple of these are 'wrong' but I was using up the fabric strips and didn't want to waste any.

- I started a new Braid quilt using some Amy Butler
- I have been chaining my Retro Flowers - I even managed some pressing so that's real progress!

- I've nearly finished a vintage sheet baby quilt that I started last night!! All will be revealed on Friday :)

- a commissioned tooth fairy cushion - I'm working on this from my own pattern and I think it'll be fun!

There are just some times when you are so overwhelming grateful and that happened when a bundle of gorgeousness arrived the other day. I got an amazing surprise from my dear friend Emily (and yes there was chocolate too and yes, in true Brit fashion, I scoffed it before I took a picture!):
These are bad pictures and don't do her makes justice at all. I utterly adore them. My sister was here when they arrived and we cooed for ages!! The fabric is SO gorgeous and I love that binding! Totally practical and useful too! Thank you so so much Emily :)
