crap crafting
Two kinds of crap. First when you say 'oh crap' because of something like this...
Why do I know I shouldn't sew when I'm tired or in a hurry or, even worse, both and yet do it anyway?!
I unpicked this clearly wrong appliqué and put it right even though I was tempted to leave it. The block would be too wrong for me if I didn't! (excuse the big crease, it had been folded up for a while)
The second is cardboard crap. My good old stand by for rainy / too hot / 'we're so bored' days. This time Lois was happy decorating an egg carton with stickers.
The kids also like using my fabric scrap bin (literally the ones I would throw away) to make lovely collages. I found some fabulous toddler glue at an art shop in Manchester and it's super easy to clean off tables, hands, and everywhere they would usually get glue!
The warm weather meant a trip to the park last weekend and Lois had such fun jumping about in this big puddle!
The good news is my sewjo has really kicked in again and I'm hurrying to get as many projects done as I can before it wanes!

November was bright so December can be merry
I've had fun making bright and bold things this month...
I also managed to finish Charlotte's bee block for Bee A Brit Stingy yesterday. I haven't done flying geese before and all the points are not 100% perfect so I hope Charlotte will forgive me, I tried my best! The pattern and colours she chose are fabulous and I know it will make a stunning quilt.
I finished a couple of other things this month but they can't be shown... soon though!
We have had more fun with cardboard this weekend. Firstly the lovely Lynne let me test her wonderful Quilt Barn Advent Calendar. Fred had great fun with this one, I couldn't find the double sided tape so we used a regular cheapo glue stick and it worked!
We also went back to the classic hiding in a cardboard box:

So here it is, my proper WIP list... not as bad as I thought it might be - I have a lot of projects in my head that I've not starting working on!
Rose Star Quilt - I'm still sewing rows of rose stars, slowly. I haven't got to work on any more but I will need to do that (the pretty green, blue and purple one was done by my lovely friend Nicky!).
Star Flower QAL - All the flowers sewn, hexies cut so need to get them put together.

Stitcheries - making progress
Shush ABC BOW - I had this cute panel that my auntie gave me and I decided to join in stitching a letter a week. As it happens one of my best friends is pregnant again so I think this will make a cute baby quilt for her son!
I'm planning on picking out whatever detail I like in each picture and doing any stitch takes my fancy! I'm using perle thread and I think it will give a nice texture to the quilt. I don't have the book for the BOW (though I've heard there will be a giveaway at Shush - I'm Quilting) and no spare cash (*** edit I just won a copy from the publishers!!! What are the chances?! The universe clearly knew I should be joining in properly! Enter to get yours at Shush!) so it makes sense to use what I have I will still be using the one I have and doing the book version too - they are making gorgeous stitchings so it's worth taking a look at what everyone else is doing!
I'm having a lot of fun with all these projects and am currently plotting my THRILLER make for Le Challenge, I'm really excited about this one!
Then there's these cute girlies, having more cardboard fun with the best toy, a box.

We made more cardboard creations over the weekend - this is a space station, being pulled by a moon buggy:
And I have been stroking the lovely Amy Butler fabric I got last week to use as backing, in the sale from ChristaQuilts. Ordered after Christmas and only $10 international shipping - bloomin fast!

Is it ironic that the baby is moving in that direction and that's how I have been feeling?
There was a false alarm on Monday, when I thought it could be the start of labour but actually it was the baby engaging it's head - painful.
I think I feel a bit let down after the possible excitement of the baby coming, in combination with just feeling fed up and so, so, so, so tired (as well as being sick again).

That's the end of my little rant for now and I will focus instead on the kidlets that are already here.
I'm going to try and promise this is the last time you'll see decorations we've made but I might have said that before and it is fun and passes the time so we could make more yet!
To get some perspective and cheer myself up I have been reading my favourite book. After all tomorrow is another day.

I had some really sad new yesterday from a friend so things have been gloomy. I'll be back tomorrow to show you my sewing progress since I didn't feel much like blogging yesterday.
The thing about having 2 small kids around is there isn't much time for sadness and we spent this morning creating some more fabulous cardboard creations in order to distract mummy.
**warning, totally rubbish cardboard makes coming up!! please forgive me!**
After a playing a shopping board game we decided to create our own sweet shop...I turned to cardboard and paper creations.
We did sticking, cutting, tearing and scribbling to create some 'sweets' and I made some quick paper bags for them to put them in. Chocolate, lolly pops and fruit salads were the sweets of the day!
Cue lots of hilarity and awesome sweet shop fun!
