Fat Quarter Blog Tour ~ books giveaway! 📚

07 June 2017

I am really excited to be part of the blog tour for Fat Quarter: Home and Fat Quarter: Quick Makes by Amanda Russell and Juliet Bawden. Two new books full of beautiful modern makes and a chance for you to win them both!

The books present ways to use those fat quarters of fabric we have in our stash to create something useful, practical and pretty. All the makes are suitable for beginners and cover a range of sewing techniques, with clear instructions. Each project has a step by step guide with corresponding photographs, which clearly demonstrate every direction, and there are plenty of tips and tricks peppered throughout.

They are, as you would expect, reasonably simple makes and patterns, which is just what you want when you need a gift or a satisfying quick make between bigger projects! The photographs are beautifully styled and inspiring. Amanda and Juliet chose lovely fabric combinations and it's worth looking at the way they use prints and colours because it works so well.

Each book has 25 projects and here are the categories:

Fat Quarter Quick Makes - Fashion & Accessories, Baby & Child, Out & About, Workroom, Presents

Fat Quarter Home - Kitchen/Diner, Utility Room, Bedroom, Bathroom, Living Room

If you want to have fun creating useful and decorative items be sure to check out Fat Quarter: Home and Fat Quarter: Quick Makes by Amanda Russell and Juliet Bawden, published by GMC (£12.99 each, available from www.thegmcgroup.com)

GMC are kindly offering a copy of each book to one lucky winner!

To enter the giveaway: please leave a comment below - if you're stuck for something to say you could tell me how many fat quarters of fabric you have.

UK entries only please, a winner will be chosen by random.org and the winner will be announced here on 12th June.
Good Luck!

Tilda Autumn 2016 Ranges Blog Hop 🌹 & Giveaway!

05 August 2016

**Giveaway now closed**

Welcome to my stop on the Tilda Autumn 2016 Ranges Blog Hop! I am excited to show you the projects I made with the new limited collection 'Cabbage Rose & Memory Lane' by Tilda, available to buy now at Stitch Craft Create.

There is an adorable vintage feel to the collection, with bright florals, sweet rabbits and ditsy flowers in gorgeous colourways.

Beautiful flowers always make me smile! I chose the 'Lucille' prints in Ginger and Linen to make a Wild Flower Pincushion. It pretties up a sewing space and shows how wonderfully the autumn ranges play together!

My girls got so excited when they saw the 'Rabbit and Roses' prints so it was only right that I used the fabric to make something for them. I chose to make two hour baskets, cute and functional - large enough to hold lots of children's books!

I paired the rabbits with tiny ditsy flowers, the ranges have a really good mix of patterns so you can play with scale to nice effect - perfect for quilting!

Practical and useful things are so fun to make, so I just went for it with the next few items:

I made a Tiny Treasures Tray with my favourite print 'Libby', I layered two strips of sparkle vinyl and added cute Kam snaps for the tabs.

Then another make for my girls, adorable hair bows using the tutorial by She Can Quilt. Very quick, easy and a fun way to use up fabric scraps! I attached little alligator clips at the back and they stay put really well without being sewn down.

Finally a little something for myself! I have already made one of these thread catcher baskets, with the tutorial by The Sewing Chick, and it's so useful next to me while I'm hand sewing that I've made another one to go by my sewing machine.

Be sure to look at the full Tilda Autumn 2016 Ranges, there are also coordinating buttons, charm packs, adorable quilt labels, fabric tape, ribbons and more in the Tilda collection at Stitch Craft Create.

Star Crossed Blog Hop

20 May 2015

The latest pattern by Fat Quarter Shop and It's Sew Emma is the gorgeous, vintage-inspired Star Crossed and I'm sharing my progress for the Blog Hop.

I have decided to go with a monochrome version. It's not something I have ever done before and I thought it would suit the star pattern - like gleaming stars in the night sky. I also wanted to keep it modern. Those that follow me know I adore vintage (patterns and fabric) but I am working on a couple of other quilts with vintage fabrics so I needed a change. Cue some Cotton + Steel and Doe to make my Star Crossed Night Sky quilt:

Here's my first block finished and I have to say I love it even more than I thought I would!!

The centre fabric is Shibuya in Linen, Tokyo Train Ride by Sarah Watts; the parallelograms are Lined Grids in White, Doe by Carolyn Friendlander and the background is Petite Plus, Black & White by Cotton + Steel.

The Petite Plus fabric really makes the star pop and the white Doe print makes it look like a shining star. I'm excited to get this one finished!

It's Sew Emma patterns are always so well written and easy to follow. The Star Crossed pattern gives you the sizes to make a Lap, Twin, Queen or King size. It also has the requirements for one block so you could easily make a quilt to suit any size and even make coordinating cushions or other accessories from just one block.

You can get the Star Crossed pattern here or get an instant download PDF version here.

I have purchased fabric several times from Fresh Squeezed Fabrics and can tell you first hand that they offer fantastic service and a gorgeous range of beautiful modern fabric.

I'll let the lovely owner tell you a little more:

My name is Randi and I have been a fabric lover for a long time---ever since I was little and my grandma carted me to the fabric store every weekend. It always seemed magical to spend time in her "fabric closet" looking through her fabrics, ribbons and buttons and dreaming of what those goodies might become.  In my little shop I carry the latest designer fabric and patterns, for all of your crafty projects.

She has a fantastic range! I'm currently crushing on these great bundles: Chicopee, Madrona Road and Nursery Versery:

Fresh Squeezed Fabrics lets you buy exactly what you want and it's so easy to create your own custom bundle, there's also a great sale section!

Randi is kindly offering you the chance to look through her shop and pick 6 fat quarters of your choice!

Here's how to to win this great giveaway:

1 - Hop over and like Fresh Squeezed Fabrics on Facebook, come back and leave a comment telling me you did (and honestly Randi has a fun facebook page - she posts great links and projects too!)

2 (optional entry) - Follow my blog, use the buttons on the left sidebar to subscribe by GFC or RSS and leave another comment telling me you have or do already!

**MAKE SURE I CAN CONTACT YOU AND PLEASE LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE COMMENT - if I can't email you then you can't win!!**

The giveaway is open internationally and the winner will be announced on Monday 3rd September

Feeling fugly

24 January 2012
I've finally caught that horrible bug going around and feel totally lousy today :(

Just wanted to remind you the the Fugly fabric party starts a week fortnight today!! **thank you Erin, I'm such a ditz!!)**

To say thank you for linking up I'm offering a prize to one of the linkers (you can call it bribery, I'm going with incentive!!)

I don't have a big stash and very little fugly fabric! So you'll be pleased to know my giveaway (open only to those that link a post with fabric offerings) will be this delicious charm pack!!

again not a sponsored giveaway, bought by me!!

Yes this time it's only one charm pack! What can I do with that I hear you say?!
Well by amazing coincidence look what's just come up on the Moda Bakeshop... this fantastic pattern by Sunflower Quilts, using only one charm pack and some solid yardage!

http://www.modabakeshop.com/2012/01/follow-pezzy-brick-road.html

So what do you need to do to win? Just come back on February 7th and link up! After a week, once the linky is finished I'll pick a winner using random.org.

You must link up with a post offering some fabric to your readers (and hopefully visitors!!). Be it fugly, ugly, not your taste or just fabric you're not likely to use. You can have a giveaway, competition, swap or offer it to anyone who'll pay the postage!

Please make sure it is cotton fabric suitable for quilting and a decent size, feel free to offer scraps if they're useable (no smaller than 5x5") but make sure it's clear in your post.

Thank you to those who have already helped spread the word! Remember we want some takers for the fabric so please encourage people to come and blog hop starting Tuesday 7th and spread the word on your blog. Grab a button and stick it on your sidebar:
