useful and pretty
More See It All Pouches, pattern by Laura Zuckerkuss. I enjoyed making various sizes and using different zips and fabrics. I also used interfacing and different weights of thread.
These bags are so handy with so many possible uses, I use mine for holding blocks and hand sewing projects.
I really love this one with the lace zip and the adorable animal print - Menagerie, Indian Summer by Sarah Watson.
For some of them I used the gold sparkle vinyl again, it's so pretty!
This pencil case was the result of me not concentrating and trimming the zip off a pouch - rendering it rather useless - instead of binning the zip I made a different size pouch. A happy accident!
These will be used as class samples for my autumn teaching schedule.

revamping my sewing case
A while ago I made myself a travel sewing case, which I love but it's quite small and I wanted something a bit more secure - so I was thrilled to see Kerry - of verykerryberry - had posted a tutorial for a sewing portfolio organiser. Her organiser is beautiful, with a lovely pieced outside but since I can't spend long at the machine (bending over the baby bump is too hard!) I chose instead to embroider it. The only other thing was I didn't make a handle, I'm happy with having it as a clutch case but I may go back and add one as it does seem practical.
The embroidery patterns are all from Sublime Stitching - a combination of Craftopia and So Stitchy patterns (I intend to do this one completely at some point!). I'm so happy with how it turned out. I wanted something that would make me smile every time I sewed and this colourful organiser definitely does that...
It has a place for everything and since I've been doing so much hand sewing it is perfect. My son was amazed when he realised the embroidered scissors on the outside matched my pink scissors (available here - I got mine as part of a kit). I love every part of this case, it feels very 'me' right now.

I couldn't stand the thought of botching more bias binding when making it myself so I bought some. It's from the lovely Karen's shop Blonde Design, highly recommended!
And then funnily I realised I've seen this binding somewhere before...
It perfectly matches the one on the changing mat my fabulous friend Emily made me! Oh I will so be a coordinated mummy... not that I intend to sew while changing nappies, that would just be silly ;)

I only started quilting in August 2011, shortly before I started blogging :)
Here's a round up of what I've made since then:
1. Nanny's Yellow Brick Road Quilt 2. My first QAL, Sampler Quilt 3. Does Not Compute Quilt 4. Terrain Lattice 2.0 5. Diagonal Stripes HST Quilt 6. Drunkard's Path QAL 7. Terrain Lattice Quilt 8. Dotty Simple Stripes Quilt 9. Dead Simple Quilt 10. and 11. Easy Bricks Quilts - two halves!
So that's eleven quilts! I'm pretty happy. They're not perfect and there's so much I have to learn but most were gifts and all were well received so I'm glad about that!
I've made a bunch of other stuff since the summer too:
I've had loads of fun making and exploring all the great tutorials out there. Apologies but I'm way too lazy to link to the posts about these makes but if you want to know more about anything let me know :)
Thank you to everyone who has supported me, given me encouragement, tips and for all the inspiration you blogging folk give me!
I'm hoping to learn even more this year and have about 6 quilts on my to-do list already! Actually it was 7 but since Christmas I've been busy and have one basted and ready to quilt. It's a gift for a friend's 50th. So far I'm loving it but no pictures yet I'm afraid - a girl has cleaning to do don't you know! I'll post about it soon because it's a fun one :)
