modern fabric bundle ~ giveaway ~

08 December 2014
**GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED**

My stash is superabundant and so it seemed right to share it and join the Sew Mama Sew giveaway day!

I created a modern bundle of fabrics to giveaway that I think you'll love. There are bright fun prints, low volume and stash blenders.

I know you're probably all hopping around so I won't go into too much detail about what is there but the bundle includes a couple of FQs and plenty of scraps - all a useable size (though many have pieces cut out, it is my stash after all!). They are unwashed designer quilting cottons (two are cotton/linen blends).

Let's break it down a bit...

So do you fancy helping me decrease my stash and using these lovelies in your handmade projects?

*SORRY GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED*

To enter:

- Leave a comment letting me know your best dance move or what dance you'd love to be able to do.
I like to shake my stuff in the kitchen while I'm cooking and cleaning but there probably isn't a word for that dance other than the 'mum dance' even though I think I'm Beyonce ;) I would love to be a fabulous tap dancer like Ann Miller (if you don't know who she is, check this out!).

- Followers of my blog get an extra entry, just leave a second comment telling me how you follow (blogger, GFC, a reader, email etc).

Please leave your email address in the comment to be sure I can contact you, no reply bloggers have been picked as the winner before and lost out because I can't get in touch with them! No reply bloggers/comments will not win.
The giveaway is open internationally and will close on Saturday 13th December, the winner will be chosen by random.org and announced here on that day.

The winner was announced here.

it's my birthday

12 January 2014

Today is my birthday. I've had a lovely relaxing day and even managed a little sewing, which I'll show you later in the week. For now I'll share some lovely fabric goodies.

Recently I won a couple of giveaways from the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway day. First up this gorgeous bundle of goodies from rosa e chocolat - such pretty fabrics, beautiful yarn and the sweetest little bag - thank you!

Then this super snuggly bundle of Puttin' on the Ritz from Sew Adorable Fabrics - a shop packed with gorgeous fabrics! Thank you Hannah!

Then yesterday a gift from my fabulous sister arrived and she had just ordered it on Friday. The divine Green Tea and Sweet Beans pattern book by Jen Kingwell and some lovely Pam Kitty Picnic from The Running Chicken - I would definitely recommend this shop! I have the bestest sister ever xxx

After all the birthday excitement the little one fell asleep on me late this afternoon. That doesn't happen as often now she's nearly one (she usually naps in her bed) and it was just precious.

Off to enjoy a takeaway curry and watch Her with hubbie - a blissful end to a great day!

happy to make your acquaintance

16 June 2013
plum and june

Welcome to Charm About You! I'm Lucy, mum to 3 little uns, who looks forward to those stolen moments (mostly after bedtime) when I can get my craft on. I love to quilt, with some cross stitch and embroidery thrown in for good measure. Check out the tabs above to see pages of the stuff I've made!

I was so happy when Beth asked me to host this week's link up and have fun getting acquainted with fellow crafty bloggers. If you're new here please stay and look around, this week is super busy on my blog and there's lots of awesome things going on so you might want to check back over the next couple of days (especially if you like giveaways, hint hint!!).

This week I've been working on presents for my son's friends. It always seems that we have no birthday parties and then a spate of them all at once. My lovely friend Erin has made some gorgeous kids cushions, like these ones, so I took inspiration from them.

I wanted had to get them done quickly so I chose the easy quilt as you go method and used strips from my stash. I appliqued the boys initials using zig zags and think it gives a nice personal touch.

I made envelope backs - I always refer to this post when making cushions, it has a great table to work out the size of fabric cuts you need and has simple tutorials for putting a cushion together.

Now I'd love to see what you've been up to!

1. Link up any recent sewing/quilting post.
2. In your post or on your blog, please include either a text link or a button letting people know about this link up and link it back to this post.
3. Visit at least the two bloggers who link up before you and everyone who visits you from this post.
4. When the link tool asks for your name, enter your favourite font or letter!

I will cut right to the chase...

I am giving away this pretty clutch I made using this pattern by Michelle Patterns.

This clutch should be 'just right' because it is the middle size - suitable for an e-reader maybe? I think it would be a cute place to keep notecards or what ever your heart desires. It has a secret pocket too!

For the purposes of the giveaway I will be filling it with these yummy scraps:

Some larger pieces and some teeny but all lovely!

**GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED**

You have two chances to win:

- Leave a comment telling me who is your favourite muppet (mine is Kermit if you were wondering!)

- Follow my blog and leave another comment telling me how you follow... the bloglovin' button or email follow are over on the right there if you'd like to hit them :)
**The giveaway is open internationally and will close on 11th May. The winner will be chosen by Random.org not by who your muppet preference is**

littleish

01 May 2013

Last month I was hoping to get quilts finished in April, that didn't happen. I made some fun little things though:

ring cushion, pop flower coasters, bandana bibs, sunglasses case

I am super pleased with them all and I'm also loving all the projects I've got on the go. I think having less time to sew has made me focus, I'm enjoying keeping up with my bees and getting blocks done each month. Little bits keep me busy.

My current focus is getting this made into a little giveaway prize for the Sew, Mama, Sew giveaway day, be sure to come back here on Monday!

And I have finished the DP quilt top for Cindy, the gorgeous fabrics are from Fluffy Sheep Quilting and I shall be quilting this beauty very soon! Sorry I haven't had time to press it yet but you get the idea, I used this pattern from Moda Bakeshop.

I also got some goodies in the post, I won a half yard bundle of Kona Modern Quilts in the pacific colourway from Tammy at Marmalade Fabrics:

Thank you Tammy! I'm looking forward to cutting this up and making something fun! I would love to find a good quilt pattern to show off the prints, any ideas?

I decided to pick some quite eclectic fabrics to share today, some of which are my favourites and I have used them all in various sewing projects:

My Blogger's BOM quilt, which is still under construction

Drawstring bag
Camera Case - I also made a camera strap with the lining fabric

Adore my Infinity scarf!
Pattern by Rebecca and available here

On to the actual giveaway then...

These lovelies could be yours!

From left to right:

Marqueterie, from Indie by Pat Bravo - a FQ

So what do you have to do to win?

*If you are following my blog or become a new follower (by RSS, email or GFC) leave a separate comment telling me so for another chance to win.

Fair warning because nothing annoys me more...

I really appreciate all my followers and welcome to those of you who chose to follow this week!

So who has won this great bundle?

Mr random generator chose number 613:

Hopefully I'll have some finishes to show you very soon.

...but the garden and an ice lolly might just distract me again ;)
