I got to play with some Tula Pink All Stars fabric this week and I adore the bee print! Wonky stars are a fun quick sew and it's nice to mix up the points, using different prints and solids. I made the bees the star of the show by fussy cutting them for the centre of the wonky star blocks.

The Aurifil 50 weight 'Warm Reception' thread collection by Anna Maria Horner is filled with warm colours and I picked out thread that coordinated with the prints for quilting. I went with a deep orange and pinky purple for some simple straight line quilting and used the dark purple in the bobbin and for the binding.  Tula Pink also has collections of thread that would also work perfectly!

Just for fun I used the purple to stitch lines in one direction and then orange for the opposite lines. It's a subtle touch but I really like how it looks!

I used a strip of orange in the binding too because it adds another playful vibe without detracting from the main bee print. The finished quilt is 36" x 48".

The warm pops of orange create a bright and striking modern quilt and you can watch me demo how to make it on Sewing Quarter, in between laughing so much with John! A repeat of the show is available on YouTube here!
