The other day the kids and I were having one of those strange conversations that seem very grown up but could only happen when talking to children. You know how they ask those deep and meaningful life questions so innocently? I don't mean the birds and the bees - they've asked about that and I've told them (age appropriate obviously). I mean those philosophical life questions that no one can definitively answer. We were talking about what love is and I quickly decided to write down what they were saying. Here's what they came up with...

And then (since they were on a roll) I asked them about what is most important in life...

They bounced off each other so they often said the same thing in a different way but I really love their answers and it makes me think I'm not doing a half bad job as their mum. I also think I should be doing a lot more of those things myself!

And as quickly as the conversation started, they ended it and went outside to hunt for beetles.
