Every month I get the awesome subscription box Signs of the Sewdiac, it's a fabulous creative lifestyle box themed with Samantha Claridge's designs. This month is The Seam Ripper, the panel above is a kit to make a zip pouch and there's a patch, pin, holographic pencils, greeting card, print and a seam ripper! All gorgeous and I adore the design. I need to find a good place for the patch.
I have notebooks a plenty, I fill them with writing, ideas and sketches. I've saved all the ones that are full and I have a collection of blank ones waiting to be used. Many of them are different sizes but recently I bought some Field Notes memo notebooks, small enough to carry around and fill with whatever is in my head. It also means I can keep these specific notebooks for my creative ideas and they'll be easy to store once they are filled. Due to the fact that I am a lover of stationery and a 'planner addict', I know about the bullet journaling trend and have seen people use some beautiful covers to hold their journals. I knew this would be a great way to protect my notebooks and keep them together. The Foxy Fix is a simple leather cover with elastic strap, that can hold plenty of Field Notes notebooks. I got a small one but it can easily fit three notebooks in (probably more!).
This is the Boss Babe Single Couture in Moonlit with powder pink stitching and elastic. Of course I got embossing in rose gold too. It's so well made and one of those things that will get better with age as it softens and gets character from being thrown in my bag!
There's been lovely squishy parcels too, more new fabric arrivals. This is the stunning underwater and tropical collection Sirena by Jessica Swift for Art Gallery Fabrics
The leaf prints are so pretty in lovely bright colours, the focal mermaid print is so whimsical and the whales and octopi are SO cute!
Can we talk about these moons?!! Those adorable faces! Stargazer by AGF Studio is utterly adorable, with furry space friends and constellation / planet themed prints. AGF Studio are nailing it in my opinion, not only do they create excellent feature prints but they are amazing at designing really useful blender, neutral prints too. So even if you don't go for the childlike space prints, the Stardust, Lunar Stamps and Interrupted Signal prints are perfect stash builders and would look gorgeous mixed with other modern fabrics.

Finally I am working on a secret project with these incredible prints from the new Anna Maria's Conservatory by Anna Maria Horner, Monika Forsberg, and Bookhou. They are utterly stunning. I've already started cutting and I'm so excited to share this with you when I can!

rose star progress and instagram giveaway ✴
I actually managed to get my rose star basted yesterday! This is the first time I've ever thread basted and I'm pleased with how it went. It should make hand quilting much easier.
I did my usual stick the backing to the floor and layer method, Clare (my quilt is her rose star tutorial) recommended the rolling method and after watching this Youtube video I will be trying that next time. It would be nice to not have to take up so much room!
I have the perfect thread, which matches the backing. My plan is to quilt the centre hexies and I'm still thinking about what else to do. Any suggestions are welcome?!

diy project life notebook and a kitty needleminder
I've made a couple of little things involving thread and fabric, though there's no difficult sewing involved!
The first is these little notebooks made from Project Life journaling cards. They end up 4 x 3" a perfect size to fit in my organiser / planner and handy to have just to scribble down ideas. I will be using them to keep my sewing and quilting project ideas in!
They were very simple, take one Project Life card (or piece of card that's 6 x 4") and fold in half. I then folded up some regular A4 printer paper and used a ruler to rip it into pieces that measure approx 3.75 x 5.75", I like those torn edges but you could cut the paper if you prefer. I used 10 pieces of paper in each notebook. Fold the paper in half and place inside the card. Using a strong needle, pierce through the card and paper - once in the middle, then make two holes above and below. Take some thread (I used perle), thread your needle making a small knot at one end and stitch through the centre. Stitch through the next hole and then through the one above, you are making a figure of eight essentially... come back through the holes until you are at the centre and then do the same thing on the other side. Once you are back though the centre, make a knot and snip off any extra thread. I decided to clip the corners because they were poking out a bit, you could use a punch or fingernail clippers to make the corners rounded if you prefer.
I decided to embellish them with some cute stickers!
Next I made a needle minder, I have been wanting to make one for ages! I bought some magnets (these are the perfect stength) and a self covered brass button (perfect size for the fussy cut fabric I used):
I popped out the little wire doodad, stretched the fabric over the front, pushing it into the grippers and smoothing the edges then pushed the back on.
I found the most perfect fabric, from Hello Petal by Aneela Hoey because hello?! that's my name printed right there!! :)
It was such a simple make and took about two minutes to do. Blob of super glue to stick one of the magnets on the back and done! I need to be getting back to some embroidery and cross stitching so I can use this baby.
I recently got a haul of zips, some felt and some cute twine from Rickety Rose Crafts - great selection and excellent prices - this should keep me going for a little while (though I might need more peach, pale green and gold zips because I love them so!)
