With no plans this weekend we hit the parks...
Wythenshawe Park is fairly local to us, it had a beautiful historic hall that I took some pictures of because I would love to create a quilt pattern based on some of the shapes.
Those flowers were huge!
Then on Sunday we went to the stunning Yorkshire Sculpture Park. One of our favourite places to visit and this time we saw Poppies: Wave by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper; Bob and Roberta Smith: Art For All and Rob Ryan: Listen to the World amongst many more fabulous artists throughout the park.
I also got some wonderful stash additions this week. The incredibly kind Molli Sparkles sent me a package after I won his giveaway and some extra florals, which he knows I love ;) I'm in Liberty heaven and have never owned pieces this big! Liberty EPP plans are afoot!
And a couple of places had New Look pattern sales recently so I took the first step in my dressmaking journey and bought some:

The week feels like it's off to a good start, maybe it was all that fresh air at the weekend, I'm feeling exuberant and am tackling my to do list with fury! Let's hope I can keep it up because it's a pretty long list ;)

This week I received some fabulous exclusive Fat Quarter Shop Aurifil Thread Boxes from the Fat Quarter Shop. I always use 50 weight Aurifil for piecing and love the 12 weight for hand quilting. I haven't tried the AuriFloss yet so I'm excited to use it! The boxes are a great way to get a variety of colours, there are four colourways: Macaroon and Tart are gorgeous and have really pretty colours, Biscotti has lovely warm neutrals and browns, while Scone has a deliciously rich selection. Tough to chose between them for a favourite!
Family life has taken priority and I haven't had as much time to sew this week but I know these will get my sewjo going once I get a chance!
Today I went to visit my Nan and I admired this lovely vintage basket, in total grandmother fashion she insisted I took it home with me and I didn't argue! I love it and will probably fill it with fabric :)

Sometimes I buy fabric 'just because'. When Pink Castle Fabrics had a sale on their Japanese fabrics I scooped this up mostly because they are pretty (I had my eye on the Hiding Cats one for a while!):

After making this drawstring tote the other day I knew I wanted one for myself so I got some canvas and twill ribbon from The Village Haberdashery:

Today is a mash up of my eclectic taste and some of my favourite things, beautiful fabric and cute stationery!
I happened upon an online shop that sells both too; ModeS4u sells all kinds of kawaii goodies - loads of adorable bento boxes, accessories, toys and much more. I picked up this cute black and white Alice in Wonderland by Kokka, which I plan to fussy cut.
and these gorgeous MT washi tapes - these are such great quality and pricier than some brands but I couldn't resist these patterns and some were on sale (the bottom one was 90p!):
It was hard get a good picture of them but you can see the two metallic ones better in the second picture, they are so beautiful. And how utterly sweet is this moon lunar eclipse tape, it has all the phases of the moon and a little bunny!!

So back to fabric...
There were a couple of lines I really wanted so I visited the Fat Quarter Shop. The first is Maker by Art Gallery Fabrics:
Now I have to be honest, this whole line does not appeal to me, though I love the retro vibe and think it has some gorgeous low volume prints. My picks were: Make Patches Shabby, Maker by Art Gallery Fabrics; Make Tests, Maker by Art Gallery Fabrics and Make Drafts Paper, Maker by Art Gallery Fabrics.
Similarly I found myself drawn to some of the Gossamer prints, there are larger prints I wasn't as fond of but I think these small prints are gorgeous:
The two on the left are beautifully retro: Mirrors and Water, Gossamer by Sharon Holland and Expectations Lilium, Gossamer by Sharon Holland. I am completely in love with the modern and fun Mesh prints, they are so perfect and could be great low volume backgrounds: Joy Mesh, Gossamer by Sharon Holland and Calm Mesh, Gossamer by Sharon Holland.
Then I couldn't resist some yummy fabric from Miss Matatabi...
More low volume and gorgeously retro prints: Winter Irome by Kokka; Circle and Square in grey by Suzuko Koseki and Vintage Cheater Print in red by Atsuko Matsuyuma
and then these neon bright prints - they remind me of the early 90s: Geometric Lines in neon pink and Love Cats in Green, Retro Collection by Lecien. I have plans for these :)
Then more stickers and washi, obviously I have a problem but my planner looks amazing and it's so nice to make organising pretty!
Handy blank circles and flags, blogging and motivational stickers from The Reset Girl and some mad stickers and washi tape from Sticker Paradise.
I picked up more from Patchfinders, this gorgeous Freshly Cut Hyacinths, Meadow by Leah Duncan and some always useful 505 adhesive:
Seems like I had a bit of a spree so better get cracking with the planning and making now!!

And then I caved. I totally caved. Somehow OH DEAR I found my way onto Instagram so I am there, stumbling along and no clue what I'm doing but I have to say I much prefer it to twitter (which I've always hated). So if you've not found me already then come and follow me and I will follow you back!
it's my birthday
Today is my birthday. I've had a lovely relaxing day and even managed a little sewing, which I'll show you later in the week. For now I'll share some lovely fabric goodies.
Recently I won a couple of giveaways from the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway day. First up this gorgeous bundle of goodies from rosa e chocolat - such pretty fabrics, beautiful yarn and the sweetest little bag - thank you!
Then this super snuggly bundle of Puttin' on the Ritz from Sew Adorable Fabrics - a shop packed with gorgeous fabrics! Thank you Hannah!
Then yesterday a gift from my fabulous sister arrived and she had just ordered it on Friday. The divine Green Tea and Sweet Beans pattern book by Jen Kingwell and some lovely Pam Kitty Picnic from The Running Chicken - I would definitely recommend this shop! I have the bestest sister ever xxx
After all the birthday excitement the little one fell asleep on me late this afternoon. That doesn't happen as often now she's nearly one (she usually naps in her bed) and it was just precious.
Off to enjoy a takeaway curry and watch Her with hubbie - a blissful end to a great day!
