charming stash and my favourite photo
15 May 2016
Sometimes there are whole fabric collections that I would like to have and the best way of getting a little of everything is pre-cuts. This week a lovely parcel arrived from Green Fairy Quilts containing just that!
I ordered two charm packs of Just a Speck by Jen Kingwell because I love all those beautiful colours. Two charm packs of Behind the Scenes by Jen Kingwell because I can't have enough low volumes or grey/black prints. And one charm pack of Little Miss Sunshine by Lella Boutique because it's so pretty!
I have no specific plan for any of these but I know I will use them all.
Yesterday my husband took the kids to the seaside, which meant a break for me, and despite it looking glorious it was actually freezing cold. He took some beautiful pictures...
Lois is now three and I can't believe how fast she's growing!
Joan is always fun:
but I adore this serene picture because she looks so meditative. It's definitely one of my favourite photos.
I'm working on a quilt tonight and enjoying a peaceful Sunday. I hope you are too!
how did I miss this? - stashing

I had a Fat Quarter Shop splurge recently... I really wanted a couple of prints (from Katie Jump Rope, Fibs and Fables and Gooseberry) and then I came across some more gorgeous prints, a couple of which I had never seen before and am really in love with!
left to right: Atomic Dot in Nugget, Katie Jump Rope by Denyse Schmidt; Floral Stripe in Sorbet, New Bedford by Denyse Schmidt; Gooseberry Patch in Midnight, Gooseberry by Lella Boutique and Ruffled in Midnight, Gooseberry by Lella Boutique (LOVE this print!)
Now I know brown isn't always popular with modern quilters but that Katie Jump Rope print is stunning! My six year old daughter also declared it her favourite of the whole lot so that's saying something!
left to right: Escape in Midnight, Fibs and Fables by Anna Maria Horner; Minutes in Brick, Fibs and Fables by Anna Maria Horner; Splash in Spring, Cascade by Jessica Levitt (very pretty and a useful low volume print) and Sprinkles Glitch in Rainbow, Playing Pop by AGF Studios.
I do not know how I hadn't seen the Playing Pop line (not enough blog reading?!) but it is gorgeous. There are some stunning prints, modern and funky in great colours. I think the AGF Studios lines are often brilliant and this one really appeals to me. The Sugar Crystals and Clueless Hearts prints are my favourites - I need to find an excuse to get them! ;)
I didn't need an excuse to get the one above because it's got my name in it! Lucy Monkey Magic, Gardenvale by Jen Kingwell (now sold out but you can get the Carnevale colourway on sale if you're quick!). I love that you get so many different dots in one cut of fabric!
There is currently a sale on the new Blueberry Park by Karen Lewis at Pretty Fabrics and Trims so I got a couple and I will be using these in my Farmer's Wife 1930's quilt:
left to right: Babs in Navy, Vintage Florals by Michael Miller; Flowerbed in Creamsicle, Blueberry Park by Karen Lewis and Allotments in Ash, Blueberry Park by Karen Lewis.
Finally I went a bit bonkers at Aliexpress and got a load of stationery - for me, for the kids and for gifts! It was fun opening that box!
Have you had any fun parcels to open recently?
I am really random

First I just have to say a huge thank you to everyone that's already entered my giveaway, I LOVE reading your comments and sorry I can't reply to all the comments during giveaways. I like to ask questions that are positive and since I do read them all I want something interesting and that might make me laugh. Previously I have asked things like 'what made you smile today?', 'who's your favourite muppet?', something about my son having chocolate for his birthday etc. This time round the question is oddly random and I am so pleased you all have just gone with it and I have been laughing so hard. So thank you all for bringing me joy :) and it was husband who provided the inspiration for the random question this time.
I actually haven't done any sewing for a few days, it feels very odd. It's not for lack of mojo, I have been feeling really creative and have written a couple of patterns. Now I just have to find time to make them!
I couldn't live without my planner and I am trying to get through so many things and stay organised. My party of 5 always has so much going on and I have to write everything down (and look at it!) to remember all the stuff!
The weather this week had been gloomy and rainy (not complaining, rain is my favourite) and our cat Amber has been hanging out inside...
on top of the chest of drawers in the girls room and in the drawer too:
I just posted over on the le challenge blog, with inspiration for the theme 'wood'. We would love you to join us in our creative challenge, just make something based on the theme and link up on the 15th May for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop! It doesn't have to be a big project so head over there to check it out!
