I got to work with a glorious fat quarter bundle of Anna Maria Horner's Sweet Dreams collection to make this quilt. And I'm not afraid to say I'm smitten with it! The blue colourway of the prints were paired with Spot On in Teal by Makower, which lets the prints sing and coordinates nicely. Spots are such a happy print, so cheery and pretty. They seem to have a retro vibe but play so well with modern prints too, anyone else think that?
The construction allowed for chain piecing, something I always appreciate because it's nice to just sew. The pattern is Four-Patch Flip from the book More Layer Cake, Jelly Roll & Charm Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott. Obviously I didn't use charm packs and cut the squares from FQs but these patterns are well written and easily adaptable. One element of the quilt that stands out to me is the way the pattern expands into the border, it's a very cool effect!
The prints are so wonderfully eclectic and the colours are truly beautiful. I am obsessed with that fern (part of the Source Code print), it's almost glowing!
I'm so pleased with how it turned out and was just a little bit sad it won't be living at my house. Don't you love those fun birds peeking out in places?!

How fabulous. I always love a good spotty fabric. x
This is gorgeous Lucy, spotted it on tv but missed the demo so will watch the catch up.
Love those wee rows of cross stitch, not too much, just enoughwill remember that.
That turned out really nicely. Great pattern choice for that fabric.
Very nice
Thanks Kay! Spots add a nice bit of print without competing!
Thank you Sheila! 😄 More and more I like adding a little uniqueness with stitches and when the machine does so many it seems a shame not to use them!
Thank you Shasta! Yes it was a good combination.
