I've been doing so much hand quilting recently that I definitely needed a little escape and I've spent some time at my machine whizzing up some quick makes. I'd come across this pattern 'Double Zippers Pouch' and thought I would give it a go. I needed a little bag and a larger one so I changed the dimensions from those given in the tutorial. I got it a little off with the first small bag and the lining is actually too big really but since it's stuffed inside and no one can see I didn't bother to fix it!! It is now home to my wonder clips and basting pins - those two separate zipped compartments are really useful.
The lining worked out better for the bigger bag (I guesstimated after making the outer part! I also didn't use wadding just interfacing) and I adore the cute woodland print. I got the fabrics awhile ago from Pink Castle Fabrics and they are so perfect for this pattern.
I've picked out some of my favourite prints that would work really well for a double zip bag because the prints run in different directions, of course there's lots of cute florals that would work well too but I can't help my love for the sweet cartoon kawaii prints:
Alice in Cream, Minny Muu by Lecien; Little Red Scene, Little Heroines by Lecien; Little Nico Town, Nico Nico Land by Lecien; Minny Muu Ladybug, Minny Muu by Lecien; Retro Cute Cats by Lecien; Bows and Sweets Double Gauze by Cosmo Textile
Pink Castle Fabrics has the best selection of Kawaii fabrics, they even have a Kawaii fabric club so you can get a monthly bundle of cuteness!
I've been making good progress with my Le Challenge 'mix' make (link up opens 15th October) and when I finished cutting I had some scraps that I couldn't part with. So I sat and looked at them and, as I was at my sewing machine, I realised I kept looking at the ugliest plastic bag that holds my extra machine feet and that just won't do! So I started folding and sewing and before I knew it I had made this little handy bag:
Complete with pretty Rashida Coleman-Hale, Cotton and Steel selvedge:
The outside fabric is Netorious, Cotton and Steel Basics and I adore the gold with the mint! The lining is a remnant I got from Abakhan that I hand stitched to the outer bag.
Now my machine bits look a little more loved!
Finally I will leave you with this pretty Autumnal picture of my youngest with pockets full of conkers - we literally have a house full since she collects them on our morning walk back from the school run!
Have a great weekend!

Didn't bother to fix that - yeah, I've been there, done that, too! All your project turned out great, and that woodland fabric for the bigger pouch is adorable!
Cute bags! I'm just making mine as I clicked on the link you provided :) How could I resist?
Isn't it funny how a simple thing like a bag to store one's sewing machine feet can make one so happy? I have some of that Netorious print living on my studio desk these days... just can't decide what to make when I dive into it!
Wow love the double zip pouch, adding it to my list now! I sympathise on the conker front, we have 5 big trees in the park at the end of our road that we walk past twice a day, need I say more?
I love everything in this post!!
I can't believe how much she has grown! What a cutie pie. :) I love all of those little bags, especially the envelope-style pouch for your sewing feet. The selvage closure was a clever idea!
I love the sweet little pouch for your sewing machine accessories - perfect! I think having some small projects like these are a nice breath of fresh air every now and then. Yay for fast finishes!
Okay, whew, plastic bags just will not do! All is right with the world again.
Great job all round! Where did that little baby go though???
sweet little makes :-)
I love that fox fabric, too! Your wee machine feet pouch is perfect! Clever girl. And at least a house full of conkers will keep the spiders away!!
eeeep - she is so cute! How did she get so big so fast?
I love making pouches, and I have separate ones for everything, tape measures, packs of pins, seam rippers etc. your baby is just delightful, I do miss having a little one. x
Love the pouches! You've inspired me to make a small one for my machine feet... I hate that plastic thing.
It feels so good to use scraps. Lovely pouches but your little person steals the show ; )
Cute little pouches- where do you find the time!!! I used to spray our conkers gold for Christmas, along with some pine cones they look really festive. And I took the acorns out of their little cups, sprayed the cups and glued the acorns back in. My daughter isn't interested in doing these fun things anymore. Enjoy it while it lasts xx
Love the envelope bag for your feet. Super cute and clever!
Love the pouches, and such a clever way to store your sewing machine feet. Love Lois!
With all those conkers you should be nearly spider free this year then! Those pouches are lovely, and yes, your machine feet needed a better home. They got the one they deserved, too! Lovely.
