This is everything I love! Patchwork, english paper piecing, appliqué, quilting, hand sewing - I've thrown it all in there to make this version of my Stitchy Pie needle case pattern! And of course that cat!

I used some 45° diamond papers to create a star with some of my favourite prints from my stash - Cocoland cats, a spoonflower print I got recently, Lighthearted by Ayumi Mills, Architextures by Carolyn Friendlander and Bright Heart by Amy Butler.

Since it worked so well before, I used a decorative stitch to appliqué the star (see top picture). There was a little bit of bulk in the centre and that's the bottom of the Stitchy Pie when it's folded, I reinforced it with a locking stitch on my machine and hopefully it well help the stitches hold up. It's this stitch on my Elna 680:

For a bit of fun I chose a yellow/orange felt and a pale crosshatch print for the inside. It sort of looks like an egg! I had some leftover bias binding - Essex Linen Yard Dyed in Storm - so I used that for the binding.

I added a Kam snap - they are so easy to put in with the pliers and the variety of colours is great! The orange works well with the florals in the Cocoland print.

The Stitchy Pie lining has space for you to write the size or type of needles in each section. I'm gifting this one so I will leave that up to the recipient. The felt also functions as little pockets - I store my Thimble Pads in one, you could also put clips on it.

It can fold in half...

or into quarters, which is my preference because it means everything is stored safely away and it fits into my sewing case!

It's been a while since I made a Stitchy Pie needle case and I forgot how quick and enjoyable they are to make!
The pattern is available to buy from me HERE or from my ETSY shop. The original Stitchy Pie design is an embroidery sampler (details come with the pattern) and to see all the amazing versions other people have made click here.

Now I'm going to get this wrapped up with some other goodies and send it on it's merry way.

Wishing you all a happy and creative weekend!
